Greetings,

Service Patrol for September - Stags. Please show up 15 to 20 minutes early to help set up tables, flags etc. for the troop meeting. Also, please plan on helping out after the meeting to put away chairs and tables. Thanks.

Monday, September 13. Troop Meeting. 6:30-8:15 Our troop meeting will include 1) Signup for troop elections, 2) Camporee campout prep, and 3) Orienteering scavenger hunt (headed by Addison T.). Please bring a coat, a flashlight, and some sturdy shoes. This is also the last night to sign up for The District Camporee and Denver After Dark.

Rocky Mountain National Park. We had a blast at the RMNP Family Campout this weekend. The weather was postcard glorious, and we took in some great hikes. Thanks to everyone who made this happen.

Physical Fitness MB. Mr. Rebolloo will be doing the initial test for the Physical Fitness MB on 2 Saturday mornings, Sept 25th at 10 am, at Evergreen HS track and Oct 2 at 11:15 at Paragon Tae Kwon Do, in the Safeway center in Evergreen. Next to Anthony’s Pizza. Also will need the completed physicals (for summer camp) for each Scout as soon as possible. Please let Mr. Rebollo know your interest at the next meeting.

We still have a need for Den Chiefs. Pack 888 has contacted us about more Den Chiefs. Please let me know if you are interested. Their meetings have started and they are keen to get at least 2.

Bummer. Fulford Cave Trip Cancelled. Mr. Gentile, the SMIC, discovered that apparently, White-Nose Syndrome is killing off the bat population, and all CO caves are closed for one year as of July 27, 2010. It has also killed our Fulford caving trip for this year. For more on the blight, see http://www.vaildaily.com/article/20100727/NEWS/100729776

Committee and SMIC positions – Bless everyone who has signed up for a position. We still have vacancies.. I have started calling every registered parent in the troop (I'm currently in the R's") asking for assistance in filling the needs of our troop, be it MB Counselor, Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee Member, or event/activity Scoutmaster in Charge (SMIC). Each and every family is expected to help out. You can see the vacancies in two places:

  1. Committee page
  2. SMIC Assignments page

September 17-19, Scoutmaster Invitational backpacking trip. Please plan on meeting at ELC at 5. We will try to leave by 5:30. Once I have a final headcount, I will purchase food and distribute at the church. You'll need to leave room for group gear inlcuding tents, stoves, tarps, happy paper, etc. I will be sending out an email this week with more details. Sometime this week, I could use some help at the troop garage going through gear. This year, we will be backpacking into the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Area near Weston Pass (just beyond Fairplay). Mr. Leubbe took Artie and me there many years ago, and it was fantastic. It's my way of saying thanks. Nykko and I are really looking forward to it.

Mr. Wickham, Scoutmaster
