Greetings,

There is a lot to discuss this week. Please take a few minutes to go over this with your parents.

Monday, October 4, 2010. Patrol Leaders Council. 6:30 - 8 PM, ELC, Upper Fellowship Hall. Required for the new SPL, ASPLs, Patrol Leaders (or Assistant PLs), Scribe, and Webmaster. Please visit the updated Scout Leadership page, print out a few Agenda Planner forms, and we'll see you there.

Collegiate Peaks Signup Deadline. The deadline for Collegiate Peaks Family Campout is tomorrow night. This is a family campout, so it will be if you're not going to the PLC, you can email me or Mr. Shockites (sshockites@additivesinc.com). The campout is scheduled for Fri Oct 22 – Sun Oct 24, 2010.

Combined Patrols.

At the request of the scouts, we have consolidated two patrols - the Flaming Arrows and Eagles - into a new patrol, the called the Flaming Eagles for now. Your guys decide if you want to change your name. Phoenix has been suggested. A phoenix is a mythical bird that is a fire spirit with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends). It has a 500 to 1000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. Cool.

Junior Leader Training. We held the JLT yesterday. Thanks to everyone, especially out new SPL (Zach) and existing SPL (Andy) who ran the show and kep us in stiches. If you missed it and are an incoming position holder, please see the earlier emails about YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES.

Remaining Scout Leader vacancies: We still have a few remaining vacancies, most importantly Scribe. We cannot function without one. Even if you don't need it for advancement, please step up to fill this critical position. PLC is this Monday, and we'll need one by then.

Help. I'm insanely busy at work through October and have fallen behind with some of the things I typically do for the troop. Many have stepped up at my request to assist. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. However, I still need some help with updating the calendar on the website through next summer and with following up with the SMICs for upcoming activities. Please let me know if you can help.
