Happy Easter Troop 737!

Thank you to Aaron Hansen for organizing the Internet Safety program. It was very informative.

Friday night was the Court of Honor for Micah, Mitch, Nick and Luke. It was very inspiring as well as a lot of fun. This is an awesome group of Eagle Scouts who are quality young men. We will miss you but you are always welcome to visit Troop 737. The next Court of Honor for some of our Eagle Scouts will be May 4, see below.

Tomorrow night we will be doing an orienteering course outside, so please bring your compass and dress appropriately. There will be a short PLC meeting sometime during the meeting to discuss the upcoming Court of Honor.

Next week, on April 28, we are going to have our only Advancement night of the semester. This will only be to sign off completed merit badges or to complete the final requirements. We are currently trying to line up counselors for: Citizenship in the Community and the World, First Aid, Emergency Prep, Communications, Veterinary Medicine and Snow Sports.

We are in the process of working out the details for our Sand Dunes Campout on May 16 – 18. This campout is a family campout so all parents and siblings are welcome to join us. This is a very unique place that is a lot of fun. Some of the potential activities include: climbing the dunes, running, skiing or boarding down the dunes, playing in the creek in front of the dunes, checking out all the cool bugs or just hanging out with your friends. There are also potential side trips to Zapata Falls, Sand Dunes Hot Springs Pool and the Alligator Farm. We have found a group campsite at the entrance to the Dunes but it is a little expensive. Total cost for the trip will be around $40 including food and gas. Before we make a commitment we want to make sure we have enough people going. Please sign up tomorrow night or sent me an email.

We still do have room so if you are at all interested, please sign up or contact me or Mr. Riley. Philmont is one of the premier scouting events of any scout’s career. All of the scouts and adults who went last time had an awesome time and highly recommend that everyone should take advantage of this opportunity. Troop 737 was VERY lucky to get a chance to go again so quickly. There is a very good chance that if you are 14 or older, you may not get another chance to go Philmont. If cost is an issue, please contact me and we will see what we can work out.
