Monday, April 12 Troop Meeting. Advancement. Scout Skills for new scouts taught by older scouts without merit badges. Time permitting, paper airplane contest. So bring some paper!!

Monday April 19, Troop meeting. The troop will be holding a search and rescue night to satisfy the 8a and 8b requirements of the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge. These include:

    • a) Prepare a written plan for mobilizing your troop when needed to do emergency service. If there is already a plan, explain it. Tell your part in making it work.
    • b) Take part in at least one troop mobilization. Before the exercise, describe your part to your counselor. Afterward, conduct an "after-action" lesson, discussing what you learned during the exercise that required changes or adjustments to the plan.

Those who need these requirements need to complete part a AND participate in planning this activity. We will be conducting a MOCK search and rescue for a lost scout in the woods, so dress warmly and bring flashlights.

Saturday - Sunday, May 7-8. New Scout Campout, Fort Lupton. Details to follow. All new scouts to attend to work toward Tenderfoot. This is a great event full of advancement, camping, learning, and Mountain Men. Please plan on attending. Parents welcome. Volunteer trainer scouts, we are planning a canoe trip on Saturday. We also will have a Mountain Man visit to tell stories at campfire. We're looking into black powder shooting and pig roast also. Due a potential travel conflict, I need a stand in Scoutmaster In Charge. Please let me know if you can help work with me to plan the event.

NEW STUFF

Saturday, May 1. Dinasaur Ridge Scout Day. Work on your geology merit badge! And it's local. See the calendar for a registration form. The registration form is due April 15.

July 31 Centennial Celebration. This looks cool. The Colorado Rapids and the Boy Scouts announced a special engagement on July 31 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. All participating Boy Scouts in this truly unique event will arrive at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park the morning of July 31 prepared for a full day of activities, beginning with a special tour and programming in the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge and on Dick’s Sporting Goods Park’s fields complex. Scouts will then have the opportunity to witness a Colorado Rapids home match, as they move inside the stadium to cheer on the Rapids during the club’s regular season match against FC Dallas. Following the game, scouts will be treated to a special nationwide broadcast as the stadium’s RapidsVision joins in live to A Shining Light Across America from the Centennial Celebration Show from the 100th Anniversary National Scout Jamboree in Fort AP Hill, Virginia. Check it out.
