Weekly Post - February 12, 2012

Post date: Feb 12, 2012 7:53:14 PM

Greetings Troop 737! We had a great meeting last week, with our OA elections and call out ceremony. Congratulations to Cole Wagenhals, Mason Force and Matthew Jones for being elected to the Order of the Arrow. Good luck on your ordeal.

I want to remind everyone that Monday, February 12th is a PLC Meeting; there will be no troop meeting.

We also held our monthly SM & ASM & HALOs for Upcoming Events Meeting and Committee Meeting on Thursday, and I would like to once again thank those parents and leaders that came to help run the troop for volunteering their time. We discussed a lot of great ideas and activity details that will help us greatly in providing a quality program for our scouts.

One policy decision that came out of the committee meeting was that we cannot waive our policy of no winter camping without winter camp training. I had asked the committee to discuss some type of waiver because we had several scouts miss the training and still wanted to go to Klondike. The committee felt that this training is so important and that we provide enough warning about the requirement, and advanced schedule notice. I am sorry for those scouts that missed the training due to illness or another commitment, but there are still many years of scouting left to these scouts and we hope that they can attend next year.

Last week, Mrs. Force had our uniform table set up. I don’t think she had a single customer, but maybe that was because we had a very busy meeting with OA and fencing, and this is the first time in a long time that we had it set up. Below is the schedule for the rest of the year. I want to remind everyone that they must have at least one Class B, uniform Tee Shirt, and I know that many of last year’s new scouts don’t have these yet. I recommend two for every scout going to summer camp! She also has a variety of other scout uniform items including troop hats, sweat shirts, neckerchiefs, etc. Please plan on stopping by next time she is set up. Here are the next dates:

· March 19th

· April 9th

· May 7th

We discussed uniforms, or lack of proper uniforms, at the committee meeting last week. This week, I will be working with the PLC to set some uniform policies that will start to be enforced by the scouts to make sure we do a better job wearing our uniforms.

Because it is so important, I would like to repeat the information about Big Horn and Wood Badge. Please see the information at the bottom of this post.

It is troop policy to have all of our senior patrol leaders and assistants Bighorn trained. In addition to making you eligible for these positions, it is one of the best leadership trainings you can attend as youth. This can be used on your college applications, right next to your Eagle Scout!!!

Please read below for details on upcoming events, and always stay current with our Troop Calendar on the web site. This is the best way to have the most current information.

Service Patrol:

The service patrol for February will be the Nuclear Flaming Eagles!! All members of the Nuclear Flaming Eagles Patrol should be inside our meeting room no later than 6:15 to help set up for the meeting.
