Weekly Post - February 5, 2012

Post date: Feb 5, 2012 7:48:54 PM

Happy Scout Sunday 737! Today marks a nationwide observance of Boy Scouting’s contribution to our religious organizations. This week we also start a big push to ask WEBELOS to join our troop or other scouting troops. This Monday we have our Order of the Arrow Elections. This will showcase our call out ceremony for visiting WEBELOS. We need a troop quorum, which means that we need more the 50% of our scouts attending tomorrow evening’s meeting!!! If you are thinking that you will not attend tomorrow’s meeting, please reconsider your decision or we cannot have our elections this week.

Sea Base: The Sea Base HALOs are still working on getting our trek into the lottery system. Please see and respond to their email:

We are looking into the possibility of a High Adventure to the Sea Base in Key Largo Florida during the summer of 2013. We are looking at either the Scuba trip on Board a sailing vessel for 8 days or a scuba trip staying at the facility on Key Large or an Eco adventure where you get to snorkel and fish while living on board a sailing vessel. If we have enough interest we need to enter the lottery by February 15, 2012, a date which is rapidly approaching.

HALO Cindy Walker presented this High Adventure to the troop last Monday. We had 13 boys express interest. We would like to know if there is anyone else that is interested in this High Adventure who was not at the last meeting or who has decided they are interested. The camps are described in more detail below. You can also go on the website to get further information. http://www.bsaseabase.org/Adventures.aspx_

New Uniform Coordinator: Mrs. Force

We have a new uniform volunteer at Troop 737. Please join me in welcoming and thanking Mrs. Force for help us make sure we all have Class B’s, hats, patches etc. Mrs. Force is planning on having the table set up to sell our current inventory of uniform items. We are not certain what this inventory looks like because we haven’t had it out for a while. I am sure the Mrs. Force will be updating this inventory as needed in the future, but for now, bring your money and see if she has what you need. Here are the meeting dates when will have the table set up:

· February 6th

· March 19th

· April 9th

· May 7th

Because it is so important, I would like to repeat the information about Big Horn and Wood Badge. Please see the information at the bottom of this post.

It is troop policy to have all of our senior patrol leaders and assistants Bighorn trained. In addition to making you eligible for these positions, it is one of the best leadership trainings you can attend as youth. This can be used on your college applications, right next to your Eagle Scout!!!
