Christmas tree recycling event is happening again this year at Evergreen Lutheran Church on Sat, Jan 2nd and Sat, Jan 9th. We need volunteers to help offload the trees from vehicles and stack them in the church parking lot. We’re trying to fill 2-hour shifts on each Saturday: 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3-5pm. Scouts that are 14 and over can sign up on their own. Scouts 13 and younger need to be accompanied by an adult or big brother because someone needs to be big enough to wrangle full-size trees off the tops of SUVs. Other parents are always welcome. The Christmas tree recycling project is sponsored by Evergreen Lutheran Church (ELC), Evergreen’s Alliance for Sustainability (EAS+Y) and Lam Tree Service. ELC provides the location, EAS+Y coordinates the event and Lam chips the trees later in January. The program is FREE (EAS+Y accepts any donations) and the mulch that Lam creates is FREE to anyone as well. Sign up here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0b45a8a62aaaf94-christmas.

Ring Bells for Salvation Army at Evergreen Walmart. Here are a few tips. Dress warm and HAVE FUN! Do it with friends (sign up for only one door), bring your dog, wear a costume, play music … the crazier the better. If you start the day you will need to get the red kettle, bell and apron from the customer service desk. If you end the day, you will need to return the equipment to the customer service desk. Do not leave the kettle unattended. Parents it is up to you if you think you need to accompany your scout or not. If you sign up, please go if at all possible. Each 2 hour session collects about $200. Use this link to sign up. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/409044caea823a75-salvation
