Hello Troop 737,

This Monday will be our first Advancement night of the year. We will be offering 3 merit badges: Citizenship in the Community and Communication, which are Eagle required, and Salesmanship, which is a really good life skill. Scouts will need to decide which merit badge they are interested in and print out the worksheet. The Troop will only provide note books to put the worksheets in. Here are the links:

Those Scouts who have not earned or are very close to earning their First Class Badge will be working on their Trail to First Class requirements. We will need a few older scouts to help with this activity.

Monday night is also the last night you can sign up for the Camporee. This is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Peaceful Valley. It promises to be and awesome event. We will be doing campout prep at about 7:45 so all scouts and adults who plan on attending need to be present if at all possible.

Webelos and at least one parent are welcome to join us. If you plan on going with the Troop both Friday and Saturday night you can sign up with the Troop. If you only plan on attend for part of the time you will need to register separately. Here is the link: http://www.bsacoloradoadventure.org/event/day-visitors-at-the-council-camporee/1713162

The Court of Honor is September 28th. This means that to be included the Court of Honor requirements need to be in the Advancement computer by this Monday night. Mr. Landin needs 2 weeks to process the rank and merit badge advancements. I will be limiting the number of Scoutmaster Conferences that can be done in one meeting so don’t miss out. The best way to schedule Scoutmaster Conference is to send me an email. As always you will need to be in full uniform for a Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review.

Upcoming signup deadlines

Monday night September 14th for the Camporee on September 18 – 20

Scoutmaster Minute Review

There are 2 major bodies of water in Israel; the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. The Sea of Galilee is full of fish and other water creatures. There are trees and vegetation all around the edge. On the other hand, is the Dead Sea. The name says it all. There is very little life in and around the Dead Sea. They are both fed by the Jordon River so why is there such a big difference? The Sea of Galilee gives back. For every gallon of water that flows in another flows out. It replenishes itself. The Dead Sea only takes, because of this is grows stagnant and dies. Some people think there are 2 kinds of people in this world; people like the Sea of Galilee who give back and live a happy and full life and those like the Dead Sea who only take. Which one is more scout like and which one are you?
