Timberline District

– Nathan Luebbe, Troop 737: Nathan read about Sammy Sousa and the baseball craze in the Dominican Republic, and was taken by the need for baseball equipment by the very poor boys and girls living there. Taking two years to collect uniforms, gloves, bats and balls, he collected 630 pounds of baseball equipment. He boxed the equipment and found, by his own initiative, a military plane to deliver the equipment to the Dominican Republic. The project was over 144 hours and he received 29 letters of appreciation from the very elated children who now proudly have team uniforms and good equipment.
