Hello Troop 737,

This Monday night is our first Court of Honor of the year. Scouts will be recognized for all the work they accomplished over the summer, which is A LOT!. We will also be doing campout prep for the Air Force Football game campout. This is a family campout and we will be camping at the Rampart Reservoir which is just east of Woodland Park. If there are some families who do not have football tickets but would like to come and camp at the reservoir, you would be welcome. From what I can gather from the Forest Ranger, the reservoir is lots of fun.

Scoutmaster Minute Review

I have something in this cup that is very powerful and almost indestructible. It can grow so big you don’t know how to get rid of it. In the cup there are pieces of paper with messages on them: hate, dishonesty, stealing, bad language, spreading rumors, lying. Are these things dangerous? Can they grow? Can they do harm? Sometimes they grow like weeds and choke out good things. We have all done at least one of these things. If you take care of these things when they’re small, it is much easier to stop than when they grow out of control. Watch out for these bad things. Stop them before they grow out of control and remember the Scout Oath and Law.

As Scoutmaster of a very active troop, I am constantly being approached about our troop helping out in the community. The troop policy has been to give our Eagle projects the priority over any other service opportunities. Instead of bombarding you all with these other opportunities I will keep a list and if a scout wants to participate in a service project or he needs service hours for rank advancement, he can email me for the list.
