Hello Troop 737,

GO BRONCOS!!

Thank you to Pete Schiffers and Tom Roan for HALOing the Winter Blast trip this weekend. I am sure that everyone had a great time. Mr. Roan ended up not going on the trip but he was still a huge help. Adults even if you cannot go on an outing you can still help organize the trip by being a HALO (Head Adult Leader Organizer)

Monday night will be Advancement night. We will be offering Cooking and Personal Management merit badges. Scouts need to understand that you will need to do quite a bit of work outside of our regular meeting to earn either of these merit badges. Please remember to print out the worksheets for the merit badge that you choose to work on. Here are the links: http://meritbadge.org/wiki/images/8/87/Cooking.pdf http://meritbadge.org/wiki/images/f/fa/Personal_Management.pdf

We also encourage scouts who need to wrap up a merit badge that they have started at another time to call up a merit badge counselor and meet with them at this time. There is a list of merit badge counselors on the website. A list will also be available at the meeting.

The Winter Court of Honor (COH) is scheduled for February 8th so all rank advancement that is to be included in the COH needs to be in the advancement computer by Monday night, January 25th.

As of today I have only heard back from one family in regards to winter camp training I know there are other adults and scouts who wanted to take the training. It has come to my attention that the Evergreen sixth graders are at Outdoor Lab next week so best date for the next training may be Sunday, January 31st from 3 to 5:30pm. We may even have to figure out another date. Please email me if you would like to do the training.

Neil Snyder has reserved a bind to few the Cranes for our Crane viewing trip in March 11 – 13. We need to make a final payment on this right after the Court of Honor on February 8th. We did this trip 2 years ago and both scouts and adults loved it. This is a family trip and we will be staying in a hotel so bring the whole family. Put this on your calendar and stay tuned for more information.

Scoutmaster Minute Review

Today is Martin Luther King Day. One of my favorite lines from his I Have A Dream speech is: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” When I hear content of their character, I think about things like integrity, tolerance, empathy, compassion and selflessness. I also think about the some of the ideals we learn in Scouts; trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, brave, clean and reverent. On this MLK day I encourage you to judge people not by the color of their skin or where they come from or what neighborhood they live in but by the content of their character. But also know that no matter the color of your skin or who your parents are or who your friends are or how popular you are, ultimately you will be judged by the content of your character so remember the ideals and morals that you have learned in Scouts
